Orchidz Brand Identity and Design

Orchidz needed a brand identity that demystified the world of NFTs and blockchain, presenting a user-friendly platform for buying and selling digital collectibles. The goal was to break down the barriers to entry and create a welcoming environment for both new and experienced collectors. Starting from scratch, we aimed to design a brand that conveys clarity, simplicity, and empowerment, making the platform accessible and appealing to a diverse audience. Our work included developing a distinctive logo, cohesive visual elements, and a seamless user experience that aligns with Orchidz’s mission of simplifying digital collectibles.

Opportunity: Orchidz required a logo that not only looked appealing but also encapsulated the platform’s promise of clarity, simplicity, empowerment, and diversity.

Decision: We created a distinctive word-mark that embodies these values. The primary size variant of the logo ensures strong brand presence and recognition, especially in contexts where the audience may have limited awareness of Orchidz. The word-mark is designed to be versatile, reinforcing the brand's identity in various applications while maintaining its core message of accessibility and empowerment.

Opportunity: Orchidz needed a distinctive and recognizable colour palette to create a strong visual identity and enhance brand recognition.

Decision: We developed a colour palette consisting of Orchidz purple, blue, pink, and black. Purple serves as the primary background colour, establishing a strong and memorable presence, while black with purple typography is used for a sleek, modern look. We also created gradients based on the primary and secondary colours of the brand to add depth and visual interest to the design. This colour scheme reinforces the brand's identity and ensures consistency across all visual elements.

Opportunity: Orchidz needed a set of fonts that would convey the brand’s message with clarity and emphasis, while maintaining a balanced and cohesive look.

Decision: We selected PP Supply Sans and PP Eiko Italic as the primary fonts for all brand-led messaging. PP Supply Sans is used predominantly (80-90%) to provide a clean, modern, and easily readable text. PP Eiko Italic is employed to add emphasis and meaning, creating a dynamic balance between the two fonts. This combination ensures that the brand's communications are both visually engaging and effective in conveying the intended message.

Challenge: Orchidz needed a unique set of visual elements to enhance their messaging and highlight important information without overwhelming the user.

Decision: We incorporated symbols extracted from glyph font libraries into the brand's design. These symbols are used in headlines and body copy to draw attention to key information or add visual interest. They are applied sparingly and with intention to maintain clarity and focus. Additionally, we developed flexible patterns based on the logo, symbols, and brand motto, available in various sizes. These patterns provide a cohesive visual backdrop that enhances brand recognition while allowing for creative flexibility in design.

Brand in Use: The implementation of Orchidz’s new brand identity has resulted in a cohesive and visually appealing presence across all touchpoints. The distinctive logo, balanced typography, and flexible design system have created a strong and recognizable brand. The vibrant color palette and thoughtfully designed patterns enhance the overall user experience, making digital collectibles accessible and engaging for everyone.
